Nike and UNDERCOVER rolled out a holiday collection that is inspired by the Japanese martial art descended from swordsmanship. Kendo has been established centuries ago, its purpose was to develop training and to refine the swordsmanship among warriors. Kendo’s fundamental concept is to discipline one’s character through the practice of the principle of the Katana (Japanese sword used by Samurai), indeed only bamboo sword is being used for practice nowadays.
UNDERCOVER once again applied its collaborated idea of “CHAOS” and “BALANCE”, with thoughtful functionality in mind. A 2-in-1 parka that is water-repellent can be transformed from a long coat to a utility vest by detaching the sleeves, hood, and lower-part-of-the-coat. As for the 2-in-1 pants, it’s all up to your personal preference of the day, as they can be either pants or shorts, that are made of waterproof material that is silky-smooth to the skin yet tough enough to against the weather. This not your average streetwear but your martial-art Techwear!
The holiday capsule is available exclusively on UNDERCOVER’s official website. The parka is priced at JPY¥89,100 (~USD$865 as of December 4th, 2020), and the pants are JPY¥35,640 (~USD$346 as of December 4th, 2020). See for yourself and imagine what you could do with them.
