The company has announced it has been working on a new version of eyewear with built-in augmented reality. Apparently they will launch the new design in May this year during the developer’s conference (only a couple of months away from today).
After the release of these high-tech glasses, people will not be needing their mobile cameras anymore as Snapchat’s cameras will cover the user’s surrounding environment with projected effects.
For now, the Spectacles have been designed for Snapchat creators and developers only, but the company is encouraging them to come up with effects for social media, such as lens-filter experiences, to enlarge their future user base.
Moreover, Snap Inc has also been developing a selfie drone as well, after acquiring the AI tech-company Zero Zero Robotics in 2017. There is no further information about it, but it won’t be long until we hear from them again, for sure.
Since 2017 there have been rumors about the company working on a augmented reality headset. But now they have become a soon-to-be tangible reality after the company’s CEO John Hanke tweeted a cropped photo of the new gadget.
The glasses seem to have built-in speakers on the sides and what appears to be a strap for the head.
