In 2019 in Shanghai, Volkswagen introduced us to the ID.Roomzz’s concept and the year after the german automaker released the ID.4 model. Now the company has released a teaser of its new ID.6 electric SUV’s silhouette ahead of Shanghai Auto show debut on the 21st of April.
Apparently, the ID.6 will be larger than the 2020 model and more “market-friendly” as the design has lost its original sliding doors.
Volkswagen’s Electric new concept will maintain the modular architecture from previous models, as well as technological and digital features, yet it is definitely much more capacious offering space for up to seven passengers in three rows of seats.
According to leaked information, the latest model will have a 201 horsepower electric motor which allegedly will be mounted over the rear axle. Moreover, VW has already confirmed that it will launch two variations of the new design by the end of this year: the ID.6 X and the ID-6 Crozz, which will only be available in China for the moment.
Nevertheless, the SUV’s arrival to the USA market apparently won’t take too long as stated by the automobile manufacturer.
The ID.6, ID.4 and ID.3 will make up VW’s global electric vehicles group, which the company intends to keep enlarging, in particular with the highly-anticipated ID Buzz landing in 2023.
Volkswagen is not the only one making advances in the electric automotive world. BMW, for example, has committed to transform its iconic Minis into full electric vehicles as of year 2030. Volvo has also released EV models through its performance brand Polestar. For more news on the latest electric car innovations, check out Canoo, ZOOX by Amazon and NIO.
