Last April maharishi revealed a collaboration with British independent record labels XL Recordings and V Recordings. Entering May, the English brand recently published its new capsule for this year’s Spring/Summer: MILTYPE21.
With an exemplary sustainable approach, MILTYPE21 brings back military graphic language and typography, which are frequently used to mark military equipment and clothing with codes and similar information. The MILTYPE collection debuted three years ago with the brand’s SS19 shattered looks and it has been a maharishi statement since then.
In this modern 2021 interpretation, maharishi includes free-hand embroidered graphics and statements declaring the garments “pacifist military design”
MILTYPE21 is already available on the brand’s website and it features pastel colors, like lavender and yellow, as well as the signature military olive green. We can also find a contrasting twist with the graphic striped t-shirts.
The sweatsuits and tees are made of premium 100% organic cotton, grown free from toxic pesticides and synthetic fertilisers. The collection features price up to $240 and there are still a few items to be released. Maharishi communicated that:
“Spring Summer 2021’s MILTYPE nods to Joseph Conrad’s 1899 novel ‘Heart of Darkness’ adding a twist to Martin Luther King Jr.’s speech — “Darkness cannot drive out the heart of darkness; only light can do that”.
