Aptera has uploaded a new video showing off its second solar electric car for the future: a revolutionary three-wheeler. The automobile startup started back in 2000 when it introduced its plans for electric vehicles powered by solar energy.
Along the way, the company had a bit of a rough path when it couldn’t gather enough funding to match the necessary investment. Luckily, Aptera Motors Corporation resurfaced ten years later and it became a successful battery company. Back on track, the innovative creators launched their second futuristic prototype last year.
The Sol vehicle is ultra-lightweight, highly-efficient and it features 1600km (1000 miles) of range. Because it’s a solar-powered vehicle it can travel long distances with no trouble (over 11000 miles per year), but it also has a functional small, yet powerful battery as backup.
Aptera has already received several pre-orders and fundings for the futuristic car. You can pre-order yours here, where you can also design your custom Aptera car. Prices vary depending on the desired vehicle: $25,900 for the 400km version and $44,900 for the 1600km version.
It is able to fit two passengers and the trunk is quite spacious: in the video we can clearly see that it can easily store a surfboard. The interiors are modern and they have a very polish finish too, something not so common in this kind of prototypes, which just takes the Aptera one step closer to perfection.
Founded by Steve Fambro and Chris Anthony, the EV-company is slaying with its impressive designs, technology and vision. Take a closer look at their new teaser video on their second solar electric vehicle and explore this leading figure in the aerodynamics field.
