After its “Bright Summer” SS21 capsule and its latest collaboration with New Balance, Stone Island has launched a preview of its Fall/Winter 2021-2022 collection. Inspired by military outerwear and vintage pilot’s uniforms, the FW21/22 Icon Imagery collection offers a range of colorful puffer jackets and parkas.
There are a few resemblances with its previous SS21 collection, such as the amount of pockets featured on the garments and the bright colorful approach, as well as the innovative fabrics and their technical treatment. Only this time things were taken to a higher level.
There are several hints to both vintage aviation-wear and military gear in general: like the high collars, elbow pads, the tapered waist and the use of specific fabrics such as nylon. Stone Island’s aesthetic gives us new “functional-luxury” vibes, if that’s even a thing.
The collection features a wide range of color alternatives, from earth tones to brighter ones. We can spot different shades of green (sea moss green, forest green, teal) and red (burnt red and rust). But also brighter options, like an electric blue and a very striking fuchsia. A bold tiger camo print can be appreciated in a two-part winter set.
The FW21-22 collection presents waist-length puffer jackets and parkas, as well as matching outerwear sets, longer pea coats and sweaters. It’s definitely a collection meant to be layered.
This was only a preview of the label’s future collection, yet we expect it to hit the markets in the next few months. Take a look at the full FW21-22 Icon Imagery capsule on Stone Island’s website.
