We are barely leaving our houses after a year and a half in lockdown and we are already tempted with a trip to space. Of course it sounds like something out of a fiction movie, but believe us it’s 100% real and totally possible thanks to Space Perspective.
Space Perspective is a Florida-based company that offers an out-of-this-world experience —literally. The company was founded by Jane Poynter and Taber Maccallum, both responsible for launching Alan Eustace to 136,000 feet in a spacesuit back in 2014, a stunt that broke the Red Bull Stratos record for the highest space-dive and highest human flight under a space-balloon.
Many crew members of the StratEx team are now enrolled on Space Perspective and they intend to send you on a luxurious balloon ride to the stratosphere. According to the company, the first commercial space-flights are planned to start by the end of 2024 and the tickets are valued at USD $125,000 per person.
Up to eight guests will be able to enjoy a six-hour ride to space (approximately 30km away from Earth) and breathtaking 360° views of home. The capsules will feature reclining seats, a bar, a bathroom and of course a Space Perspective pilot.
It won’t be anything like a turbulent rocket launch, as the capsule is gently propelled by a giant hydrogen-filled balloon, which means there is no G-force acceleration involved either and therefore zero emissions. Passengers won’t be required to do any physical preparation either.
You can learn more about Space Perspective’s project and when you make up your mind you can book your seat here. This type of experience clearly introduces a new era of travelling. And who knows, maybe your next holiday will be a little farther from home.
