UNDERCOVER’s collaboration with Nike has come a long way. Both labels have provided us with many great capsules until today, from a Kendo Martial Art inspired Techwear collection to a striking LDWaffle “Bright Citron” pair of sneakers 一a collaboration which also involved Japanese brand Sacai.
And the lucky, disruptive streak continues, as Nike and UNDERCOVER have released a new GYAKUSOU, that is an up-to-date version of Nike’s ZoomX Vaporfly Next%. This last one was considered almost too good to be true last year, as it faced a possible ban from the World Athletics commission. It was quite a controversial case as it appeared that the sneakers gave Nike’s sponsored athletes a leverage over others, yet the news here is that there’s an even more recent version.
The ZoomX Vaporfly Next% 2 was firstly announced by UNDERCOVER earlier this month and since that date we were able to discover quite a few things from the official images. Apparently, the upgraded pair will showcase two colorways: one in red with navy, white, and grey details, and a second one in green and burgundy tones.
Both pairs are topped with white laces and they offer a breathable design. The ZoomX Vaporfly Next% 2 provides a cushioning sole thanks to Nike’s innovative ZoomX material. This collab features “GYAKUSOU” branding over the top of the shoe and then “Gyakusou International Running Association” at the toe.
Nike and UNDERCOVER have both confirmed that the new pair is coming soon this year yet there is no confirmation about a specific release date. Don’t worry, we’ll keep you updated on Nike’s GYAKUSOU 2021 collection featuring UNDERCOVER Lab.
