Virtual and augmented reality are leading the way to the future of design, including for renowned Italian design studio Pininfarina, who has made use of these technologies to show its state-of-the-art Teorema concept car.
Pininfarina is responsible for some of the most iconic and attractive designs in the history of motoring, and the Teorema concept is another win on the list. With a very particular slim silhouette, Teorema is an electric vehicle that can fit up to 5 people thanks to customizable, stretching features.
All seats can be rearranged and rotated to fit the driver and passengers’ needs, including the possibility of transforming two rows of seats into a comfortable sofa. In fact, users can select one of its three driving modes: Autonomy, Drive or Rest. All the interior has been designed in collaboration with Poltrona Frau, an Italian manufacturer who specializes in leather interiors for automobiles.
Teorema is also aerodynamically efficient thanks to a wind tunnel and air ducts on the sides that improve airflow and boost the electric vehicle’s range. Less than 1.30m tall and 5.4m long, the vehicle does not have regular doors, as you have to enter through the back of the car.
Pininfarina Teorema has been described as the most futuristic concept car as of today because of its bold, sleek aesthetic, but also due to the advanced technology that one can find on its inside —including augmented reality features. It’s a new interpretation and conceptualization of electric, autonomous mobility. Moreover, it has also been compared to the Tesla Cybertruck.
The Turinese design firm has still not confirmed any production date, but it’s only a matter of time. Meanwhile, check out other examples that swear to be the future of urban and aerial mobility, like the MINI Vision Urbanaut, Squad’s solar powered vehicles, the Pal-V Liberty.
