Travelling has changed a lot over time and we are predicting even bigger changes for the years to come. Technology has encouraged new travelling experiences, some of them which are out-of-this-world, literally.
For example, what if we told you by 2027 you’ll be able to book a trip to space and stay in a luxurious hotel? You’d probably think we are crazy, but not quite. California-based company Gateway Foundation has set its mind on building a dual-use station to inaugurate the era of space tourism.
Besides fulfilling research purposes for national space agencies, the new Voyager Station will also become a comfortable hotel for Earthlings. The Orbital Assembly Corporation (OAC) is responsible for building the massive ring-shaped station, which will contain an “habitational ring” with luxurious villas and suites to host space tourists. In fact, the Voyager Station will be the largest man-made structure in space featuring 50,000-square-metre.
But that’s not all. Among the 24 habitation modules of the space-hotel, you’ll be able to find plenty of amenities, such as a restaurant, a bar, a gym and an event center, among others. According to the OAC, space tourism is a billion dollar industry and we can see why.
As stated in their website: “Voyager Station will leverage the technologies of Space and the comforts of Earth to create a unique experience unparalleled in history”. We have to admit, the images look both promising and exciting, aside from the fact you’ll be flying through space.
They offer short-term and long-term lease options, and you can already book your room and become part of the first 280 guests to stay at the Voyager Station hotel. Another similar project you can check out is Space Perspective’s.
