Has the era of smart glasses already begun? It definitely seems so since Ray-Ban has released its first generation of smart sunglasses and eyeglasses together with Facebook, under the name Ray-Ban Stories.
Although on the outside they maintain a traditional Wayfarer style, worldwide known to be Ray-Ban’s most iconic design, these glasses are far from conventional. The Ray-Ban Stories have a built-in function that allows the wearer to take instant high-quality pictures and videos thanks to a dual 5MP camera and LED lights on the front.
How can you capture the images you may ask? Well, these smart glasses provide two different alternatives. One is a simple hyper-responsive touchpad ㅡas if you were using a regular phoneㅡ and the second is a hands-free method involving an incorporated voice command and Facebook’s assistant voice control. It’s time you start practicing “Hey Facebook”, instead of “Hey Siri”.
Thanks to a built-in Bluetooth feature and three microphones audio array, the Ray-Ban Stories let you shoot pictures and videos, listen to music and even make a call using the discrete, open-ear speakers. As the labels state, this is “the new way to capture, share and listen”.
Featuring three styles (Wayfarer, Round and Meteor), you can choose among 20 variations between color and lens options. The smart glasses can be charged with a portable charging case. Moreover, the labels have presented an operating system to easily import, edit and share the content from Facebook View app directly into social media.
The sunglasses and eyeglasses are already available at select shops and website with a price ranging between $299 USD and $379 USD. Sleek, modern, compact and stylish, this is a design worth checking out.
