Remember there were rumors about Apple releasing its third-generation AirPods, allegedly on September the 30th? Turns out rumors were indeed true, although the timing wasn’t quite accurate.
Yesterday, the tech giant unveiled the brand-new earbuds design that comes with Spatial Audio, Apple’s new surround system, a technology that was developed by Dolby and that has already been used in Apple TV and Disney+.
This means the AirPods offer a state-of-the-art, three-dimensional experience for both surround-sound music and videos. Thanks to a new contour, the sound plays right into your ears producing an immersive retreat that won’t be compromised with movement.
Featuring an industry-leading sound and longer battery life 一as the company states一, the AirPods arrive with a new aesthetic, which is both sweat and waterproof. The battery will last up to six hours now and only five minutes of charge will give you up to an hour of use.
The third-generation AirPods come with a new low distortion driver, a.k.a. powerful bass and clear high frequencies. Apple has also provided us with enhanced audio quality during FaceTime calls and sound-on notifications with Siri.
The case supports both MagSafe and wireless charging, as well as all four chargers. Apple’s new release combines the power of the H1 chip, the innovative Spatial Sound, an Adaptive EQ and a Dynamic Head Tracking system.
The result? A computational high-quality sound that you won’t have to compromise regardless of how you turn your head. Some of these features were actually taken from the Pro and the AirPod Max.
The new AirPods are already available for pre-order on Apple’s website for $179 USD and as of October 26th they will hit physical stores too.
