Japanese automaker Mazda has recently revealed the first model of its new line of SUVs: the CX-50. The upcoming model is set to be the company’s most robust SUV so far. Moreover, it’s also designed to be the sportiest Mazda SUV until today.
The first-ever Mazda CX-50 SUV comes in olive green and grey colorways, both featuring matte black decals and gloss black grille bezels. It also features a rugged yet refined design, visible through more pronounced fenders and flares. It is modern, utilitarian, versatile and strong.
The CX-50 new terrain provides advanced driving properties, such as i-Activ AWD® technology and Mazda intelligent Drive Select (Mi-Drive) technology. In addition, it has been designed to enhance the driver’s connection to nature via enhanced off-road and sport driving modes.
Although it shares certain similarities to the CX-30 and the CX-9 models, this futuristic SUV is much larger, longer and wider than the previous designs. It also has more ground clearance than the CX-5 model and more legroom for the passengers too, despite having a lower overall height.
Other characteristics include:
- a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine
- a strength of 190 horsepower, along with a turbocharged alternative that will increase that figure to 250 horsepower
- a six-speed automatic transmission
- an all-wheel drive configuration for enhanced off-roading capabilities
Mazda engineer Dave Coleman stated that the CX-50 SUV could arrive in a hybrid version too, but it will take a couple of years more. Mazda’s upcoming SUV will be available in Spring 2022, but so far there’s no further news regarding the prize of this new model.
