JJJJound has joined forces one more time with American brand Danner to launch a revival of two 1980s hiking boots. Following their first collaboration together on 2020, both brands have teamed up for the second time by designing two new versions of Danner’s iconic 80s footwear: the Feather Light boots and Mountain Light boots.
JJJJound has collaborated with many labels this past time, including Vans, Dr Martens and even New Balance for the 990v4 Navy sneaker. The Feather Light and Mountain Light hiking boots are winter essentials, now and back in the 80s when they made their first, original debut.
Danner has been around since 1932 and this long heritage has allowed the brand to become a synonym of craftmanship. They are worldwide known for designing functional footwear for hiking, hunting, working and military equipment.
The Montreal-based label and Danner have re-designed these vintage styles by keeping the iconic elements and adding a needed dose of functionality. The JJJJound x Danner Mountain Light boot, for example, features a one piece base layer in suede fabric, which is topped off with JJJJound’s logo on the lateral heels and Danner’s branding on the tongues.
Similarities of the two new versions are provided by the earthy, neutral tones like brown and olive green, and the utilitarian approach too. Both the Feather Light and the Mountain Light styles are handmade in Portland (Oregon) as well.
In addition, the top halves of both styles are constructed using GORE-TEX technology which allows the footwear to be waterproof, a must feature for the cold, winter days. The bottoms, on the other hand, are made of Vibram 1276 Sierra outsole treading.
The brands will be dropping these two new styles tomorrow December 10th at 12pm EDT on JJJJound’s online store. In similar news, Craig Green x Adidas Originals drop CG SCUBA PHORMAR silhouette.
