Stone Island has recently presented the “ANNEX” art group installation at the Institute of Contemporary Art in Miami. But Italian brand keeps on surprising us with one reveal after another.
Only yesterday, Stone Island began with the celebrations of its 40th anniversary by unveiling a sneak a peek of its upcoming collection. According to the label, the Spring/Summer 2022 collection “features new energy along with a pragmatic and innovative vision that combines menswear archetypes with Stone Island research”.
For forty years now, Massimo Osti’s brand has been a leading actor in the techwear world, always providing the latest fabric technology and material innovation. Stone Island’s know-how and expertise is of course present in the upcoming capsule, which will also feature archive pieces.
In fact, some of those garments have been redesigned and recreated into new fabrics. The SS22 collection includes beachwear essentials from the Marina SS19 and SS18 lines, as well as monochromatic garments from the SS20 and SS21 capsules. Highlights of the SS22 collection will be a pair of GORE-TEX packable windbreaker and vest, camouflage outerwear, cotton ripstop jackets and color-changing gear.
Among the fabrics use for this 40th anniversary release, we can in fact find the signature GORE-TEX and recycled polyester, as well as nylon, cotton jacquard and cotton ripstop. Moreover, Stone Island has also include pieces made of GORE-TEX”s black diamond label, Heat Reactive Lamy fabric and Off-Dye OVD.
The Heat Reactive Lamy is a fabric affected by outdoor temperature that can change color from yellow to orange and from light to dark blue. On the other hand, the Off-Dye OVD is a treatment that can be applied to clothes and it provides them with a unique, protective finish.
Prices range between $180 USD to $800 USD, and you can check the collection preview here. Stone Island is not the only label talking about next year. In fact, nanamica unveils functional and inclusive SS22 collection.
