UNDERCOVER and WTAPS welcome the new year with a preview of their upcoming collaborative capsule collection. Both labels have been leading members of the worldwide streetwear scene since the early 90s, focusing on garment construction and military inspired clothing.
During the 2000s, Japanese designers Jun Takahashi (founder of UNDERCOVER) and Tetsu Nishiyama (founder of WTAPS) decided to collaborate together and they joined forces to launch a series of functional, basic garments such as t-shirts, cargo pants and jackets.
Two decades later, the two brands have surprised us with a new collaborative capsule, which will be delivered tomorrow Saturday January 8th, 2022.
The announcement was made through their Instagram accounts, where we were gifted with a sneak peak of a monochrome black look, comprising a jacket, adjustable zipper trousers, a belt, a sweatshirt, high cut sneakers and a cap.
Other publications regarding the 2022 capsule collection showcase a knee-long coat, a blazer and a hoodie as well. Although most pieces are featured in black, the blazer and the trousers appear to be designed in a beige tone too.
From what we can see, each item is also accompanied by the collection’s motto “ONE ON ONE” in contrasting white letters.
The UNDERCOVER x WTAPS® capsule collection “ONE ON ONE” will be available at UNDERCOVER Hong Kong, Shanghai, Seoul and other select UNDERCOVER shops in Japan. It will also be available at their online store.
Moreover, according to the Japanese label: “To purchase at UNDERCOVER Aoyama, Shinsaibashi PARCO and UNDERCOVER NOISE LAB Shibuya PARCO, a pre-raffle registration will be necessary to enter the stores”.
